Linus Torvalds je realizovao final 2.6.1 Linux kernel. Ovo izdanje ima dosta promena od verzije 2.6.0.

Ubrzo nakon premijere 2.6.0 kernela izasla je sledeca stable verzija sa oznakom 2.6.1 koja je, kao source ili patch za 2.6.0 kernel, dostupna za download na adresi www.kernel.org
After releasing this Linus will be in Australia for the week, Linus explains:
“I’m going to be in Australia (and on airplanes) for the week, but we’re all in the capable hands of Andrew, so why worry? The fact that I’m fleeing the country should in no way be construed as anything sinister at all, no siree. Nope. I’m innocent, and nobody saw me do it.”
